Abstract
This report reviews the published evidence on pet-rated artificial turf for Whitby households with dogs: what distinguishes pet-specific products from standard landscape turf, how published drainage claims compare against Durham Region's recorded rainfall, what the literature says about odour, bacteria and wear, how the surface behaves through a Durham winter, and what ten years of ownership costs in time and money against a natural lawn under dog traffic. A 300 sq ft pet run installs for $4,200 to $4,800 at Whitby-area published mid/premium rates and breaks even in approximately 2.5 years against a professionally serviced natural lawn with dogs.
